As women we face different phases in life that challenge us and/or change us. Undoubtedly, our fashion changes along with these phases. When we are pregnant, become mothers, when we suffer a loss, when we face disease or become caretakers to family members we once relied heavily on, when we carry all the hats, when we become a wife or go through a divorce. Whatever the stage is, we find ourselves in a stage where our emotions are reflected in our season/phase of life and in our fashion choices.
I am a woman who has suffered loss of a parent , grandparents and an uncle. I have birthed two beautiful children with the same body I use to know however, soon became unfamiliar with. I am a woman who has battled cancer that shed my hair and changed my appearance. I am a Masters degree graduate, published author and entrepreneur. I am a wife, daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter and an in law. Like most, I wear many hats and have experience many changes in life beyond what this blog can even express. These changes all effected how I dressed!
Each stage of life changed what I had interest in fashion wise. Being raised in the church, I have always loved dressing up for any occasion however in several of the stages above my go to fashion became sweats and leggings or just something simple, "boring" and quick for my busy life. I didn't always enjoy getting dressed like I use to and I certainly didn't always feel myself. When I had my daughters, I went through some tough times, experienced post partum depression and getting dressed for no reason sparked me feeling much better even if I didn't start the day this way.
Needless to say, fashion can move you to be and feel better even if it is just a start. Coretha, my grandmother who Ive watched level the seasons of life with great strength and always looking good while doing so. She embodied grace and elegance even while sitting at a dialysis center for several hours a day, three days a week. I remember it taking her a while to even wear a sweatshirt but this season of her life required comfort and warmth while battling kidney disease. On days where she was tired and not feeling her best she would still get dressed and look her best. When it was time for church, she would put on her best dressed suit, hat, shoes and a clutch to match.
This example for me is why I named my boutique after her. We can't forget our foundation, to honor legacy and see the simple lessons we were given just by the example of major influences in our life. Again, I want every woman who shops here to know that you are loved, you have purpose, you will make it through, and you are God's favorite! Through each season of life, no matter what you are going through, you can find solace here knowing that we shop with you in mind!
You are a timeless woman journeying through the seasons of life.
We love you!
